Government asks EV makers to stop two-wheeler launches

In light of recent fire issues of battery, the Union government has asked EV makers to suspend new two wheeler launches. The ministry of road transport and highways held a meeting recently, to discuss the rise of battery related issues that has become a concern for public health issues.

While existing models are free to sell in the market, Several have issues recalls to further investigate the cause of these fires. Some brands like Okinawa, Pure and Ola have recalled certain models. Nitin Gadkari has threatened brands with huge penalties if they fail to recall the vehicles on time.

The move has been made to provide time for government to set up right body of authority and take a closer look at the cause behind these incidents, it also prevents brands from launching improved versions of scooters. What happens to EV brands waiting to make their debut in the Indian market, remains to be seen.

Government has created agencies like ICAT,ARAI etc for type approvals and every battery or any other parts has to go through BIS certification. So even after all these testing and certification vehicles are catching fire. What you think where the wrong is.?
